Residential and Commercial Excavation in Hurricane, UT

Looking for a small-town feel with access to everything the beautiful great outdoors has to offer? Hurricane, UT lies in the heart of Utah’s Great Basin, surrounded by buttes and mountains of red rock and sandstone. It may be a town of only about 19,000 people, but it has become a stop for tourists on their way to Lake Powell or a base camp for visitors looking for adventure in Zion’s National Park or Sand Hollow State Park.

The name “Hurricane” is pronounced “Hur-i-kun” by Utahns, mostly due to the settlers who came from Liverpool, England. As the story goes, before 1896 when the town was founded, the man named Erastus Snow led the exposition into the area by wagon. A whirlwind tore off the covering of the wagon he was riding, to which he compared the speed of the draft to a Hurricane. The location was quickly dubbed Hurricane Hill, and the town was named after it!

Today, Hurricane is a growing suburb of St. George, playing host to millions of outdoor enthusiasts every year. Motels, dining establishments, and historical landmarks dot the town. The central boulevard of Hurricane, officially called SR-9, is the main artery of the town, leading south and then west as you come from up north. If you are interested in fishing, you can visit the Quail Creek Reservoir on the west side of town, or enjoy the historical charm of the Hurricane Valley Heritage Park Museum. Many visitors hit up nearby Sand Hollow State Park for a day of adventure! Hurricane is also home to many different RV parks for vacationers to enjoy all year round.
